We are proud to announce that BulgarianPresidency.eu will look different after 1 January. Until now the website appeared more like a blog, because the main contributor was Georgi Gotev, founder and publisher of this journalistic project to monitor and accompany the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Nevertheless in two months and a half of existence more than 80 articles were published, including interviews with the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, the former king Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and people with contribution to the Bulgaria-EU relations such as Hannes Swoboda of Geoffrey Van Orden.
The big news is that from 1 January, this website is becoming a media. Several Bulgarian journalists will join the project, with regular reports and opinion pieces. Also, Brussels-based journalists have expressed interest in occasionally contributing views. The Bulgarian journalists will be coordinated by Svetoslav Terziev, a prominent journalist and commentator with Sega daily, and a university professor in journalism. Georgi Gotev will act as Publisher and Chief Editor of the international team while continuing his work with EURACTIV.
Until now the project was entirely financed by Georgi Gotev, a Brussels-based Bulgarian-Belgian national. We will remain transparent regarding financing and are proud to announce our first sponsor. From 1 January Overgas will sponsor a new section called “Diaspora”. The aim is to gather views and opinions from Bulgarians around the world about what made them leave the country, how they see Bulgaria from abroad, and what could possibly make them return to their country of origin. The duration of the sponsorship covers the six months of the Bulgarian Presidency.
We are open to sponsorships for other sections, including contracts exceeding the duration of the Presidency. In general, other sponsors including European and multinational, are most welcome, see our contact details. And we thank those who have already expressed interest in starting a cooperation. We remain editorially independent from the sponsors, but their financing could help us dedicate more resource in covering areas of relevance for the Bulgarian Presidency, such as EU enlargement, EU defence policy, the future of the EU and several others.
